For me art is spiritual. It is both in the doing and in
the looking at my work that I find a spiritual component. The inspiration
for my work evolved from my deep personal interest in the spiritual and
symbolic meaning of cloth across time, culture and religion. In many
spiritual traditions cloth is sacred. I have taken this interest and created
work that embraces my personal need to explore the enigmatic and symbolic
language of the soul. I hope to carry the viewer into the mysterious and
invisible world of spirit, where the soul suffuses the mundane with a sense
of the sacred. Often I combine both text and visual imagery, knowing that
language activates one part of the mind while visual imagery another---these
two together become a powerful tool for self-expression. Each work is
unique, coming from a deep and personal place within. The process is
intuitive and soulful.
